Bruce Esplin is working towards an MA in Modern Chinese Literature with the goal of continuing for a PhD. His current research focuses on Mainland Chinese films depicting the Korean War. He is particularly interested in representations of gender and discourses of heroism in popular films such as Yingxiong Ernü (1964).
