ResearchMichael Jay McClure teaches the theory and history of modern and contemporary art. His specialties include new media, contemporary theories of representation and post-modernity, theories of gender, queer theory, modern and contemporary painting and sculpture, film studies, and, more generally, the History of Twentieth Century American and European Art and visual culture. He completed his PhD at Bryn Mawr in 2006, as a Whiting fellow in the Humanities, writing the dissertation Medium’s Collapse: Andy Warhol, Robert Gober, Matthew Barney, and the Contemporary Object of Art. He is also a poet, a scholar of poetry, and holds an MFA in Creative Writing, Poetry, from the University of Iowa’s Writers Workshop. |
