TRANS October 19-22, 2006
CALL FOR PAPERS

The Visual Culture Cluster at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites your proposals to participate in the conference TRANS designed to foster transdisciplinary actions and set for October 19-22, 2006. There are a number of ways in which you can participate.

  • You can ATTEND THE CONFERENCE. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for small scale seminars and workshops, as well as attend plenary sessions. Click here to register for the Trans conference.

  • You can REPRESENT YOUR WORK IN A POSTER SESSION. Posters are graphic and textual presentations of research. This format, more typical in the sciences than in the humanities, allows for research to be present to audiences in visual formats throughout the conference rather than at a single sessions. Posters are encouraged on any aspect of visual cultural study or practice.
    • To propose a poster, please send a 250 word description along with an attached CV (in rtf, wpd or .doc format) and/or work sample (in digital format) to transconference@education.wisc.edu

  • You can SUBMIT WORK FOR EXHIBITION. Please see the call for exhibition work for more details on the format and goals of the accompanying exhibition.

We are no longer accepting proposals for working groups or seminars.

  • WORKING GROUPS will host discussions or seminars during the breakout sessions of the conference. A list of working groups topics can be found on our Sub-Themes page.
    • We are no longer accepting proposals for working groups.

  • We will organize accepted participants into SEMINARS, for which papers will be exchanged with other members of your seminar in advance of the conference. Seminar topics may overlap with working groups or be distinct. A list of topics can be found on our Sub-Themes page.
    • Please note: While we welcome non-traditional presentation formats, we have limited resources with which to support presenters, so please make sure your proposals (innovative or conventional) require standard technology or technology that you can support.
    • We are no longer accepting proposals for seminars
