“Quieto Pelo” surge de un juego de palabras con la alocución peyorativa pelo quieto que junto con otros vocablos estereotipantes como: pelo malo, pelo feo, pelo de esponjilla o pelo bombril, se usan comúnmente para denominar despectivamente las características físicas del cabello de la gente negra. “Quieto pelo” intenta decolonizar esas voces para aludir a lo afirmativo de la acción del peinado y a las prácticas estéticas asociadas al cabello entre los afrodescendientes, como memorias de independencia que a la vez reúnen sabiduría, tradición, respeto y comodidad.
